Slide Borrowing Policies
Slides may be borrowed for lectures and, as a courtesy to other faculty, must be returned within one week. If slides are pulled more than one week in advance, they should remain on the faculty reserve shelf in the Visual Resources Center. Each borrower is assigned a color chip, which is dropped in place of a slide when it is pulled. Borrowed slides should be kept in carousels or slide storage boxes and must remain on campus except for special off-campus presentations. When returning slides to the slide return drawers, the borrower’s color chip is placed in front of them. All slides and carousels must be returned by the last day of finals week at the end of each quarter. The user assumes responsibility for all borrowed materials.
Students may pull slides for a class presentation. Please use assigned color chip and drop it in the exact location of the slide. These slides must be photocopied on special checkout forms and then placed on the student reserve shelf in a box labeled with the user’s name, class, and date of presentation. The borrower assumes responsibility for slides loaned. The slides, placed in a carousel, can be checked out just prior to the lecture and returned immediately after. For an evening lecture, the slides in the carousel should be placed in the instructor’s office overnight to be returned according to arrangements made with the Visual Resources Specialist. If entire classes will be using the Visual Resources Center to prepare presentations, then the instructor should arrange a class visit to orient the group as a whole.
Borrowed slides must be photocopied on special checkout forms. Returned slides will be checked off these forms. If you are not assigned a color chip, please consult with Visual Resources Specialist or student assistants.
Video Borrowing Policies
Faculty can check out videos for three days. On checkout, sign and date the video checkout card and place it in the box on top of video storage cabinet. After viewing the videos, please rewind the tape for the next user. On return, date the card and insert it in the video pocket. Place the video in the return box on top of the cabinet.
Students can view videos on the TV/VCRs in the Student Study Center next to VA 201. They can be viewed in other locations in the Art Department if the student leaves a Coyote Card. The videos cannot be checked out overnight or taken from the building.
Periodicals and Book Borrowing Policies
Faculty can check out a magazine or book for one day. Please fill out check out form on top of the video storage cabinet.
Students can read magazines and books in VA 201. They only can be checked out for a class presentation in the Art Department if the student leaves a Coyote Card.
